Mission
Our mission is to advance the practice of philanthropy in partnership with nonprofit organizations and professional colleagues by providing consultative services, education and training, management resources and executive recruitment.

Philosophy
We believe that partnership is the defining philanthropic relationship whereby each partner has equal status and a certain independence, but also implicit or formal obligations to the other partner or partners.

We believe that authentic partnerships are rooted in consensus-building and shared decision-making. We seek to develop such partnerships among nonprofit professionals, board members, donors, volunteers, consultants and advisors.

We believe that the process of development is integral to the success of nonprofit organizations and we advocate those models where development is fully integrated into the organization's culture, operation, governance and service.

We believe that philanthropy is the ultimate aim of development. Philanthropic success is realized when people make thoughtful and heartfelt contributions to the nonprofit organizations of their choice. We believe that philanthropy fulfills the aspirations of the benefactor and the organizations.

We believe that philanthropy is synonymous with service and that giving is a spiritual act. These principles guide our work, as do the missions of the organizations we serve in partnership.

Values
Integrity: We comport ourselves as professionals of uncompromising integrity. We demonstrate this by:

  • providing exceptional service to clients;
  • giving honest advice and feedback;
  • representing our roles clearly to clients' boards, staff and donors;
  • fulfilling our commitments to our clients' satisfaction; and
  • communicating our fees in advance of services rendered and fully documenting reimbursable charges.

Professionalism: We conduct ourselves according to standards of ethics and conduct established by our profession. We apply these by:

  • providing counsel only in areas for which we are qualified by experience and education;
  • maintaining confidentiality of privileged information provided by partners, donors and their constituents;
  • advancing the profession through volunteer service to our professional associations;
  • committing time, expertise and financial resources to those nonprofit organizations which we serve voluntarily; and
  • adhering to professional standards of practice.

Education: We advocate professional education for our clients, our colleagues and ourselves. We are dedicated to:

  • presenting quality seminars and other education opportunities for clients, colleagues and volunteers;
  • speaking to groups regarding leadership, organizational development and philanthropic principles;
  • authoring original material for publication;
  • mentoring our clients and other professionals; and
  • advancing the understanding of nonprofit development through original research and the application of knowledge from other disciplines.

Collegiality: We believe that our value to our clients is enhanced by our relationships to one another within the firm. We are committed to:

  • sharing common ethical and moral values and professional goals;
  • working collaboratively to provide clients the benefit of our collective expertise and experience;
  • seeking our own professional growth through continuing education;
  • supporting one another in maintaining a healthy balance between our professional and personal pursuits; and
  • upholding the principle of tolerance by acknowledging and accepting our differences and by addressing conflict in the spirit of equitable resolution.
